We are a small studio of sculptors, painters, and hair artists who believe realism is an act of care, not a manufacturing spec.
Our Story
LumiBaby started in a spare room studio where our founder, a portrait sculptor by training, was asked to create a memorial doll for a family who had lost a newborn. The process sculpting a face from photographs, layering silicone by hand, rooting hair strand by strand became the template for everything LumiBaby makes today.
What began as single commissioned pieces grew into a small studio collective. We kept the commission-era standards hand painting, named artists, numbered editions and built a proper shop around them, so more families and collectors could bring one of these babies home without a years-long waitlist.

Every doll passes through five stages of hand-finishing — from clay to certificate.

Sculpt
Our lead sculptor develops a new head, hand, and foot mold from clay, refining proportions until the expression feels unmistakably alive.
✦Step 02
Cast
Platinum-cure silicone is poured in small batches and cured under controlled heat, producing a skin-like translucency you can see light pass through.

Paint
Artists apply up to twelve layers of pigment by hand to build veining, blushing, and the faint mottled tone of real newborn skin.

Root
Mohair or fine synthetic fiber is rooted strand by strand at the scalp, brow, and lash line — a single head can take upwards of eight hours.

Weight & Assemble
The cloth body is filled to match target weight, limbs are attached, and the finished doll is dressed, photographed, and paired with its numbered certificate.
